Supporting development and Cognitive gains with Homeopathy & Bioresonance screening

Dec 23, 2022

I am excited to share more about my work with Lois Duquesnoy from 'Understanding Autism'. Lois and I have been collaborating on many complex children's cases (ASD, ADHD, PANDAS/ PANS) over the last year by bringing Homeopathy and Bioresonance screening together.

We are very impressed with the results and look forward to sharing more case studies to demonstrate how we work together, and the huge healing potential once we get a comprehensive view of individual root causes using Bioresonance screening. Once we have this map of root causes we can target our homeopathic remedies and human chemistry prescribing more accurately for quicker, and more long-standing clinical results.

Lois and I started working with a 6-year-old boy with developmental delay and hyperkinetic disorder in April 2022. John’s (not his real name) mother wanted help to improve his communication, speech & language, attention, hyperactivity, and sensory processing.

John’s mother had already done a lot of work to help him. She had tried a biomed approach, and CEASE homeopathy to address ill effects from an early childhood intervention. With the latter approach, she witnessed some minor improvements but very few significant, longstanding gains.

John showed signs of regression in his development at around 2 years old. By 2.5 years old he stopped asking questions and saying words that he knew before. He didn't care or notice if his mother left or came into a room. He withdrew into himself, didn't like to play with toys, and didn't want to socialize with other children. She didn't consider it a big issue until he was 3 years old, and he still wasn’t speaking. Even though the doctors tried to reassure her that he was just a quiet boy. He was also stimming which concerned her.

When he started homeopathic treatment he was able to say a few words. He mostly repeated words after his mother, sometimes two-word sentences but he wasn’t asking any questions. He would point or scream to ask for what he wanted. He spent most of his time stimming, swinging, and jumping on the trampoline. He also liked going on the balcony to look at the trees. If mom asked if he would like to play he would say no. He wasn’t excited by play, and would never initiate play. He only showed interest in sensory activities to self-soothe.

He started kindergarten late due to anxiety. He couldn't engage with other kids and was sensitive to loud sounds, which caused him to be frustrated. He would stand in the corner of the classroom stimming.

During pregnancy, mom had eczema on her abdomen. She applied cortisone cream to help the itch. As a newborn, he got a serious staph aureus infection in his eyes and ears, which required a 7-day stay in the hospital and a course of antibiotics. John had a total of three antibiotic courses in his life, all before 1.5 years old. He suffered from digestive complaints in the first few months of his life.

Hydrocortisone was applied externally for eczema around his mouth at a later stage. John had a skin condition from the moment of birth. He didn't like the bath at all. When we first met his skin condition was very dry, and itchy. John had cracks on his elbows, and behind his knees were red. He was very resistant to new foods.

I decided to refer John to Lois for Bioresonance screening because his mom had already tried several modalities. I wanted to get a better insight into the root causes for quicker clinical results.

The screening process covers an extensive assessment of health factors relating to all body systems. John’s screening provided clear insight into several areas of dysfunction that clarified some of his key symptoms and started to outline priority areas of imbalance and stress that need to be addressed to bring him back to good health.

  1. Gut dysfunction was a major focus with clear immune and metabolic impacts of poor gut health.

  2. Neurological profile with imbalance patterns also linked to dysbiosis and inflammatory metabolic patterns that likely impact neurotransmitter metabolism.

  3. Nutrient levels and metabolism including choline and inositol imbalance impact fat metabolism, and may be impacted by oxytocin imbalance and liver dysfunction, and catastrophic imbalance in B vitamin metabolism.

  4. Several organic acid markers indicating yeast and fungal overgrowth and results for pancreas which show very inhibited pancreas function may be linked in part to this.

  5. Indications for oxalate toxicity and urinary tract support which provided clear explanation for some of his more distressing symptoms.

  6. Food, Phenol and environmental sensitivity, including salicylate reaction which is linked to skin symptoms and eczema and may contribute to ongoing intestinal inflammation and immune disturbance.

  7. Dysbiosis and low Butyrate levels from poor levels of good bacteria in the gut have a direct impact on the ability of the gut to heal itself (as it is unable to produce the short chain fatty acids that it relies upon for nourishment) but also impact oxytocin production which is a major player in social engagement, bonding, fat metabolism and social anxiety management.

  8. Pathogen assessment revealed that influenza viral strains are significant (as well as Epstein Barr, Herpes strains, and Varicella (Chicken pox) to some degree of health stress, also parasite readings were fairly high but this is not surprising in the context of digestive results, Bacterial stress was very high, probably reflecting digestive pathogens and dysbiosis picture, although Staphylococcus epidermis was also a significant stressor - this may be involved in some of his skin symptoms.

Based on John’s results, priority was clearly indicated for digestive dysfunction as a first line of therapeutic focus. Work here would include:

  • Addressing highly significant inflammation of the digestive mucosal lining and small intestinal inflammation, including imbalance of Butyric acid.

  • Poor Commensal Bacterial balance and probiotic imbalance.

  • Threonine imbalance is strongly linked to Oxalate toxicity, which is in turn linked to dysbiosis.

  • Heightened food, phenol, and environmental sensitivities via desensitization protocol.

  • Salicylate intolerance via avoidance of salicylate-rich foods.

  • Possible toxicity from ammonia - this has a strong link to imbalanced gut bacteria

Changes in the gut microbiome and permeability are linked to heightened immune inflammatory activity and pro-inflammatory cytokines. An increase in system inflammation could be seen in the screening results and as the knock-on neurological effects of a heightened inflammatory state have such a clear impact on neurotransmitter levels like Oxytocin (which is such a player in social interaction, eye contact, anxiety, etc) and other key neurotransmitters and brain health, improving digestive health was a clear therapeutic priority.

Specific treatment targets

1) Address microbiome, improve healthy bacteria, improve intestinal lining health, Butyrate levels, address pathogenic bacteria and fungi, including yeasts affecting the pancreas to improve general digestive strength.

2) B vitamins - improving levels via targeted probiotics was suggested, but homeopathic intervention is also being carried out.

3) Neurotransmitter support.

4) A desensitisation course.

5) Reduce Salicylates.

6) Urinary tract support.

Therapeutic Options indicated in screening alongside homeopathic treatment:

1) Lithium Orotate - shuttles B vitamins into brain cells.

2) Phenylethamine - ADHD, neurological picture.

3) BH4

4) Butyrate

5) Licorice for urinary tract discomfort?

6)Targeted probiotic strains to improve B vitamin metabolism

7) Glutamine?

8) High-dose Melatonin

9) Choline and Inositol

His first prescription was a steroid and antibiotic rebalancing course along with pancreatic fungi course which was indicated in the Bioresonance scan. The overall remedy prescribed was Sulphur LM. John's mom also added in BH4 on Lois's recommendation.

8 weeks later

  • John started to say more words

  • Singing a few words from a song which he never did even when small.

  • Said ‘I did a poo’ for the first time.

  • Finding new ways to communicate, usually would scream to request mother's help. Now his pointing has increased. He takes his mom to show her what he wants. Really good progress expressing requests.

  • Looking at me with more eye contact.

  • Better use of language.

  • Mom is more confident he understands her.

  • Skin clear on his elbow and knees. Now bubbles on his fingers and his toes. Then it goes red and raw. Hasn't scratched since the first week.

  • He wants to play but doesn't know how to do it. When asked if he wants to play he says yes, which is new. Asked to play on the balcony with balloons. Before he wouldn’t ask or initiate. He said no to having a story, but yes to tracing. He seems to be enjoying it.

  • Went to the barber for the first time in his life! He was anxious, he cried a bit in the beginning, but he didn't have a tantrum.

  • Anxiety in new places has reduced. The new apartment on holiday was fine. Doesn't usually like using the restroom in another house, used the restroom at his uncles and grandparents.

  • More open to trying new foods. He eats plums, peaches, and apricots which he wouldn't eat before.

  • Much difficulty sitting still.

12 weeks later

  • Skin rash on leg has cleared up.

  • Seems more friendly and wants to engage with other children. He doesn't have the language but willingness is there to engage and interact.

  • If he wants something e.g. watermelon, he will bring watermelon and say 'cut the watermelon'.

  • Anxiety improved. Our stay at a new hotel went better than expected, usually, he would ask to go home.

  • Itch has gone completely.

  • He's eating new things - grapes and yogurt.

  • Increase in the amount of time he can stay still. He can write 1 or 2 pages. Before he could do only one line, and then need to run around the room.

16 weeks later

  • Social interaction has improved

  • Positive feedback from kindergarten that he is proactively seeking other kids company. Went to a bigger boy and said hello. Mom is amazed, he never did that before!

  • He has a new friend, playing together holding hands, and jumping on the bed. He really pays attention to this boy.

  • Trying to socialize as much as he can in a non-verbal way.

  • He's getting the concept of play.

  • Also trying to interact with kids in the park.

  • More present with what's happening around him.

  • Repeating and imitating better than he used to.

  • He asked me to read a book and to play more cards, 2 months ago he didn't enjoy cards at all.

  • His attention span has increased, he can do a few pages of drawing/ tracing, initially, he could only do one.

  • Able to sit for longer periods.

  • Hyperactivity decreased.

  • Anxiety level is better in new places and even at the dentist.

  • Less averse to having people in his space.

  • Eating much better - he's willing to try new things.

  • Skin all healed.

As you can see John has responded very positively to the first stage of his treatment. The next stage of his treatment is addressing parasites, clostridia diff, and vitamin B metabolism with homeopathic remedies.

One year later

  • His mother reported that John is responding super well to homeopathy.

  • Sensory-seeking behavior has lessened significantly.

  • Stimming has reduced.

  • Willing to try new foods. Before he wouldn't even let certain foods on the table. He's accepting meat and some cabbage which he would normally refuse.

  • Stopped grinding his teeth.

  • Vocabulary has improved a lot. Makes requests now.

  • He's replying to questions - e.g. says 'yes', 'no', 'I don't want', 'Yes I want mango'. He's still not asking questions - why/ how? but is expressing his basic needs.

  • Play and engagement are much better from the beginning of treatment. He wants to play in the park, he asks to play hide-and-seek, and he's playing peek-a-boo for the first time. He's playing and having fun!

  • John's super attentive and really interacting with me, and has even interacted with my brother who he didn't acknowledge before. They played for one hour and really connected!

  • His attention span is increasing every day. Great feedback from therapy. He will ask for a break if he needs it and then start again. He's going 2 days per week and managing it.

  • He can now do 2/3 pages of coloring and no issues drawing. He's matching appropriate colors to objects e.g. coloring in carrot orange.

  • John learned how to cycle.

  • Becoming more independent with his personal hygiene.

  • I can leave him with family and friends and he's more comfortable.

  • His anxiety about going to new places is almost entirely gone except for going to the doctor or dentist.

John currently needs dental treatment so we're going to focus on reducing his anxiety about going to the dentist so he can get the necessary work done. We have some great homeopathic remedies to alleviate this anxiety. This is great progress in just one year of homeopathic treatment (5 visits and prescriptions).
